OKAICOS Men’s Swim Trunks Review
I will say this about the OKAICOS Men’s Swim Trunks, they are comfortable! They’re made out of a 76% nylon/ 24% spandex material blend that is ultra-stretchable and comfortable.
It is difficult to find swim trunks with a high percentage of flexible spandex material that looks great as well. I should know, I’ve tried.
The other thing that’s difficult to find in swim trunks is an inner lining that’s comfortable. The OKAICOS swim trunks have a soft inner-mesh brief that you barely notice.
Now, these swim trunks aren’t cheap, but they are worth it in my opinion. Due to their flexible material, you’re never going to rip open a seam while engaging in any water or beach activities.
You’ll be wearing these for a long time.

In this review of the OKAICOS Men’s Swim Trunks, I’ll discuss their features, look and feel, and pros and cons to determine if they are the right fit for you.
OKAICOS Men’s Swim Trunks
These men’s swim trunks are made by OKAICOS. If you’ve never heard of the company here’s what they’re about.
OKAICOS is a relatively new swim and lifestyle brand launched by founder Jimmy Lambert in 2014. He started the company to fill a gap in the men’s swimwear market.
What gap exactly? Lambert saw that although there were plenty of so-called “lifestyle” brands on the market, very few also focused on improving their customer’s mental health.
In fact, that is how the name of the company was derived. It was during a trip to the Turks and Caicos Island chain. Lambert liked going to the Turks and Caicos to help alleviate stress and mental fatigue.
Lambert embodied this feeling into the declaration, “I’m feeling Okaicos.” It’s a statement of optimism that only a calm and serene setting that a beautiful Caribbean island can inspire.
This is what sets OKAICOS apart from competitors. Rather than just talk about feeling “Okaicos” and espousing optimistic mental health-healing vibes, the company is actually doing something about it.
They’ve partnered with Active Minds, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting mental health. This isn’t just a gimmick and OKAICOS isn’t just using it as feelgood publicity. The company keeps its charitable contributions out of any marketing of the brand.
I respect that.
Ok (aicos?), now that we’ve taken a look at the company, let’s look at their swim trunks and what they bring to the table.
Features of the OKAICOS Men’s Swim Trunks
Here are all of the important features of these swim trunks that you need to know.
- 4-Way Stretch Fabric
As I mentioned from the beginning, these shorts are incredibly stretchable due to the 24% Spandex, 76% Nylon material.
- Mesh Liner
Since these swim trunks fall above the knees with a 7″ inseam, it’s good to have little coverage in the crotch area. The mesh brief liner is soft and comfortable with no chafing.
- Two Front Pockets With Hidden Side Seam Pocket and Zippered Back Pocket
There are two front hand pockets with a hidden side seam pocket on the left for valuables such as wallets and credit cards. There is also a nondescript zippered back pocket.
- Zipper Fly with Button-Velcro Closure
There’s no way these swim trunks are coming off in the water with a zippered fly along with a velcro and button closure.
- Hidden Adjustable Drawstring
You wouldn’t tell it from looking at them, but there’s a hidden drawstring inside the waistband for even more adjustability.
- Stylish Waistband
One of the signatures of OKAICOS swim trunks is the unique waistband design on each pair of their shorts. No two are the same and there’s a story behind each one.
- 7″ Inseam
These swim trunks have a 7″ inseam and fall above the knee. If you like your swim shorts longer then these probably aren’t for you.
Pros and Cons
- I think we’ve established the comfiness of these shorts.
- There are 7 different colors to choose from.
- I love the pockets. There are two zippered ones that are great for keeping your credit card and I.D. safe in the water at the beach or pool.
- Stylish waistband
- Don’t come in longer sizes.
- Some of the colors are out of stock for certain waist sizes.
Making Sure They Fit: How to Choose the Right Size
Buying clothes online can be daunting and you’re never sure if what you buy is going to fit. Well, there are a few things you can do to ensure that the shorts you choose will fit perfectly when you get home.
Those articles should get you pointed in the right direction.
If the OKAICOS swim trunks aren’t striking your fancy, perhaps a pair of shorts from the iconic French swimwear label Vilebrequin will pique your interest?
To quote the brand, these shorts engender “A sense of timeless luxury synonymous with family holidays in St-Tropez.”
If that seems up your alley then here you go. I’m not a fan of the elasiticized waistband and gaudy drawstring but they have other styles to choose from.
It is very difficult to find swim trunks that check all the boxes. Comfort, style, and fit, the OKAICOS Men’s Swim Trunks check them all.
Pockets and a drawstring that you hardly notice just add to the stylish look of these shorts. With the high amount of spandex in the material, these shorts will move with you whichever way you go.
Seriously, most swim trunks you encounter will be made of mostly polyester. Nylon and spandex integrated together is far superior in comfort and feel to polyester ones.
They are a decent chunk of money, but the quality justifies it. I rate the OKAICOS Men’s Swim Trunks worth their price tag and I think they’ll be an integral part of your summer attire.
